Day 3b - Barcelona exploring (pt.2)

Full day exploring Barcelona, let's see what is available to experience.
My route. Seems like a lot but shouldn't take but 3-4 hours
Gaudi made so many gothic-classical buildings around Barcelona
Another Gaudi
Local produce market
Where to start
This place is pretty massive
Any fruit drink cup 1euro

Did I mention Gaudi made a lot of amazing buildings around town? He also created the building for their orchestra. They are playing tonight Beethoven's Symphony no. 9 and I can't wait to hear it!

Something right out of Paris
Even the cheap seats are stunning
Seats go fully around the hall
Outside light change the stain glass as the concert goes on
The detail in the glass..wow
My seat. Not too bad
They killed it!

My soul died a thousand times while they played and was reborn each new stanza. Acoustics so perfect no one was mic'd. This is how a show should be seen.

I had wondered why the city was sold out of rooms. Turns out this weekend is a local holiday in celebration of the Saint of Fire. Craziest thing I've see. Fireworks rain down onto the crowd for 10 blocks as they go from the cathedral all the way to the beach.

Tomorrow: get on the boat!

Day 4 - time to sail

Welcome to my little ship. Little compared to the monsters being built today. Total capacity is 2200 people. Other ships in port today will hold more than 6000.
Can you see my tiny ship hiding between the big monsters?
Nice terminal for check-in
All 2 floors of balconies (10 floors total) that other ship has 18 decks
Snug but comfy room
What I love the most, amazing sunsets

Tomorrow: Nice, Eze and Monte Carlo

Day 5 - Eze, Monte Carlo, Nice

What a beautiful way to start the trip. Welcome to the port of Nice, France
I could live there

Time to head to the tour buses, hidden behind the old fortress wall, and go explore Nice.

It use to be folks were taxed by the number of windows they had. People eventually just painted windows to avoid taxes
I love France for these little courtyards
You'd never realize how much beauty was hidden in that church in the prior pic

Beaches of Nice are gorgeous but are rock. Let's head to Monaco.
Grace
Harbor of Monaco
Inside the church Grace Kelly was married
Her grave
Monaco courthouse

Let's go check out where large Monte Carlo race is held as well as see the hotel that financed so much of this area.
One of the famous corners race cars cut and sometimes overturn
The famous Monte Carlo Casino
Kinda run down given the money it brings in

Last stop today is a visit to the hillside town of Eze. Lots of very very expensive hotels and homes up here.
Random person's backyard
Little hilltop community
Original 1400s cobblestone streets
Old WW1 photo of a US Navy ship visiting the harbor of Nice

Time to head back

Tomorrow: Florence and Pisa, Italy
