Day 23 - Marseilles

Time for the last stop in this whirlwind trip. Today we'll be seeing many places that Van Gogh painted. Let's check out Marseilles. Marseilles is where Mary Magdalene fled to after the death of Jesus. She lived her for roughly 30 years before her death. Our last stop has a tie back to her and the birth of her son.
The precursor to the coliseum in Rome
Although this one only held 25000
At one point homes were in the center
Next door was a concert theater
The concept sure hasn't changed much in 2000 years
Back when windows resulted in additional taxes...
Jesus and his disciples
"Hospital of the dead"
Van Gogh came here after cutting his ear off
Also similar to what he painted
They like Colonel Sanders

Time to move on to Avignon.
The Palace of the Popes

Our last stop, the mountain town of Provence.
Folks lived in the hills for safety and comfort (fixed temps)
This church is built into the mountain
In case you ever wondered how a local ship pilot gets on and off a ship

All fun must end. Ready to get back to reality. Next big trip - Baltic. Learn more here, join the fun!
